Living Like a Local

Have you ever wonder how to be a Balinese, doing their daily routine and living with them? Why not spend a night with a humble and humorist I Wayan Junaedi in his village located in the outskirt of Ubud where he loves to take you to wonder around his village and share his knowledge on how to do a meditation in his family temple.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Ubud – Bresela

In the afternoon, we will drive you to a village called Brasela, a traditional village located in the outskirt of Ubud where culture and nature still preserved till nowadays. Meet with a local man called I Wayan Junaedi, a humble and humorist man who could speak in multilingual such as Japanese, Russian, France, Spanish and English.

Once arrive in his house, you will be introduce to his family and learn about Balinese house compound.

Afterward get a short hike to explore the beautiful of rice filed where you can have a chance to meet with farmers doing daily farming routine i.e. flowing or harvesting in traditional way.

Afterward jump into a local kind of bar in the middle of rice field, blend with local community and farmers to sip glass by glass of tasty but alcoholic traditional Balinese palm wine or locally called “Tuak”. Witness the skill full of a farmer on how to climb the palm trees and bring down the fresh palm wine especially for you to taste.

After this wonderful experience, return to I Wayan Junaedi house to spend a night in his lovely house.

Enjoy your free night time in the village. If there is any temple ceremony happen in the village, June (I Wayan Junaedi) loves to show you and take you to the temple. (D)

Day 2 – Meditation – Traditional Market – Monkey Forest

After breakfast, Suit yourself with Sarong and get ready for a morning meditation.  Afterward you will be explained and teaches on how to make an offering and other things that needed for ritual.

Afterward, June will bring you to his family temple where he will explain about the temple and how to do meditation for self-healing to cleansing your mind, body & soul.  Meditation process will take around 30 minutes and in the end of this processes you will get holy water or tirta which have been prepared for purifying your cakras, body, mind and soul.

Afterwards, drive to nearby traditional market. Jun will explain to you local Balinese herbs and vegetables. To make your trip more memorable why not try local food i.e. Suckling pig or a traditional food called “tipat Cantok”, a boiled rice in diamond shaped seasoned by peanut sauce and mix with local vegetable and tofu.

Return to your Jun house and get ready to bid farewell with Jun’s family

You will be picked by our guide then continue to Ubud center to visit the sacred Monkey forest. Encounter the indigenous monkeys in their habitat. Inside the forest you will find three ancient Hindu temples, jungle-covered pathways lined with mysterious statues.

Drive to your origin hotel. (B/L)

  1. What an incredible experience. To learn about the real culture of Bali and experience the art of coconut wine making and more importantly tasting!! Wayan was an incredible guide! 10/10 would recommend!

  2. It was a memorable experience. June speaks great English and is a passionate proud Balinese. We talked about culture religion and traditions of Bali and Indonesia. I learnt a lot. The trip was unique, trekking through the farm fields for natural coconut wine? Quite something eh. The rice fields was beautiful. The man who harvested coconut wine was an expert. It was an eye opening experience.

  3. Words can’t even describe how amazing and unique this tour was!! Wayan was an incredible host and went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. He also had the best stories and knowledge of Bali/coco wine/the local culture.
