Ijen and Bromo Tour

Overview

Mt. Ijen and Bromo are two of the most active and also the two of the most famous volcanoes in East Java. A multi-day trip to visit these two epic volcanoes is an adventure not to be missed while you are in Bali. Traveling from South or North Bali to East Java to visit Mt.IJen and Bromo before catching a flight in Surabaya or head to Yogyakarta for your next adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Pemuteran – East Java

Ideally, start from North Bali / Pemuteran and be possible to pick up from South Bali then head to ferries harbor in Gilimanuk, and cross to Ketapang harbor in East Java that would take around 45 minutes to 1 hour.  Once arrive in Banyuwangi drive to the selected resort for check-in and overnight.

Spend a night in Banyuwangi.

Day 2 – Ijen – Bromo.

Wake up early morning then jump on the 4×4 jeep vehicle to drive to Paltuding base camp, passing the beautiful scenery of rice terracing fields with its traditional manner of plowing the soil with buffaloes, and some plantations such as clove, coffee, cinnamon, and gmelina wood (a kind of teak wood).

Once arrive at the base camp, hike to the top of Mt. IJen through well-maintained pathways. Enjoy the views of 200 meters deep sulphuric crater Lake and witness the agility and strength of the miners as they collect and carry the Sulphur blocks up to the crater rim. Walk down to the lakeshore is prohibited for safety reasons.

Return to the base camp and continue the trip head to Bromo.

Lunch served en-route.

We will arrive at night in Bromo. Check-in, and spend your night in a selected hotel in Bromo.

Day 3 – Bromo – Surabaya

At 3.30 am, leave the homestay in a 4×4 Jeep to the viewpoint at the top of the caldera of the volcano Tengger. There you will witness a magnificent sunrise over the valley of volcanoes, Mount Bromo 2300m, Mount Batok 2400m, and Mount Semeru 3670m.

After the sunrise, back on the Jeep and drive to the foothills of Mount Bromo then take an easy 30 minutes hike to the crater rim of Mount Bromo and here you can walk around the rim to several viewpoints overlooking the vast valley and into the depths of the crater.

Return to the hotel for breakfast and shower.

Check out from the hotel and drive to Surabaya.

Lunch served en-route.

Spend the night in Surabaya.

Day 4 – Surabaya – Next Destination.

Spend your morning at leisure. In the afternoon check out from the hotel be transferred to either Airport if you would like to fly to your next destination or the trains station if you would like to go to Yogyakarta for your next destination.
