Itinerary

Day 1 – Ende – Moni

Upon arrival at Ende Airport be warmly greeted by our local representative who will take you to Moni for check-in and overnight.

Day 2 – Moni – Kelimutu – Bajawa

kelimutu, landmark, blueRise early around 04:00 then proceed to the breathtaking Mount Kelimutu to discover the most amazing natural phenomenon in Flores. Kelimutu consists of three uniquely colored lakes from brilliant aquamarine, to ocher red and chocolate brown. Over the years, the 3 crater lakes have often changed colors.

Return to the hotel in Moni for breakfast and time for changing and packing.

Check out from your hotel in Moni and drive toward Bajawa. On the way, we will stop at some places. Start with visit the former President Soekarno was exiled by the Dutch from 1934-1938, then continue for a visit of Nduria bustling fruit and vegetable market and Saga, a traditional Lionese village.

In this afternoon drive through a small and quiet town surrounded by mountains in the middle of Flores. Stop on the way for a walk along the unique blue pebble beach near Nagapanda.

Late in the afternoon, visit traditional Ngada village while stopping at Wogo. The village hosts impressive ancestral stones as well as the typical Ngadhu and Bhaga shrines representing the clan’s ancestors.

Upon arrival in Bajawa, check-in to the hotel.

Day 3 – Bajawa – Ruteng.

After breakfast at the hotel, get ready for your next journey. Drive to Bena village, another traditional village in Ngada villages. Bena village is the most impressive of all Ngada villages still with stone megaliths besides the ancient houses that overlook Mount Inerie.

Proceed to Ruteng in the afternoon. Stop en route at Ranamese Lake and rest in the nearby black sandy beach and visit Ruteng Pu’u. Ruteng Pu’u Village is a traditional village with traditional compang in the center of a village for ceremonies and rituals. A compang is a round platform made of stone and is surrounded by a circle of stones and traditional houses. It is used for sacrificial offerings during traditional ceremonies. In the village, you can see the traditional houses and cultural charm of ceremonies, without too many tourists around since most travelers oversee this village. There used to be a Beringin tree, locally known as a Ruteng, in the center of the Compang but nowadays the tree is replaced by a Dadap tree.

Arrive in Ruteng, capital of the Manggarai district and the largest rice-producing area of Flores as well as an important Indonesian coffee-producing area. Ruteng is located around 1100m in the volcanic highlands and offers a cool climate.

Day 4 – Ruteng – Labuan Bajo

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Labuan Bajo. Along the way stop at Cancar where a 20-minute hike to the hilltop is required for an overview of the unique lingko spiderweb rice fields. With their round, spider-web structure, these unique rice fields are particular to the Manggarai people: the central point is used for ceremonies celebrating the unity of the male and female and heaven and earth.

Arrive in Labuan Bajo in the afternoon.

Day 5 – Labuan Bajo – Day trip to Komodo

Wake up early morning and get ready for a transfer to the harbor. At 6.00 am depart for Komodo island. Cruise over blue tropical waters and past hundreds of small islands where it takes approximately 4 hours.

The first stop will be at Komodo island. Join by a local ranger, takes a walk (1 hour) to encounter the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. Wild buffaloes, deer, pigs, and various species of tropical birds like the Cockatoo can be seen also along the trek. Before leaving the Island enjoy simple lunch at Pink Beach and spend the time discovering the splendid underwater world with its crystal clear water and an abundance of corals and sea life.

Hop on the motorized boat and continue to Rinca for a bigger chance to see the Komodo Dragons.

Return to Labuan Bajo will take around 1,5 hours (B/L)

Day 6 – Labuan Bajo – Departure.

Breakfast at the hotel and spend the rest morning at your leisure. In the afternoon check out from the hotel and be transferred to Airport for your flight to your next destination. (B)
